Full-Profile Inserts Designed Around the Complete Screw Geometry
OMTM bone screw whirling inserts are selected from the complete thread profile, not from pitch alone. The design review includes thread pitch, major diameter, minor diameter, flank angles, crest width, transition radii, thread hand, number of starts and the cutter-body setup.
- Triangular T16A insert platform with three usable cutting edges
- Standard HA and HB product range with defined ordering codes
- Custom insert profiles for proprietary orthopedic and implant screws
- Carbide grade, edge preparation and coating selected for the application
HA Shallow and HB Deep Bone Screw Threads
HA and HB are asymmetric metallic bone screw thread families. Each product must be confirmed from the full screw drawing and the actual whirling-head configuration.
HA Shallow-Thread Whirling Inserts
Full-profile inserts for shallow asymmetric HA thread geometry. The profile is defined by TP, Do, Di, r4, r5, crest width e and the reference helix angle beta.
HB Deep-Thread Whirling Inserts
Full-profile inserts for deep asymmetric HB thread geometry. The smaller minor diameter creates a deeper cutting profile and requires a dedicated insert geometry.

RH indicates a right-hand thread. Left-hand and customer-specific profiles are available after drawing review. Published dimensions are reference data; final insert compatibility must be confirmed before ordering.
How to Read the Insert Ordering Code
The ordering code identifies the insert platform, thread family, nominal diameter, pitch, thread hand and grade.
Coating Options for Titanium Alloy and Stainless Steel Machining
Coating selection is reviewed together with the exact workpiece grade, carbide substrate, edge preparation, coolant method and cutting conditions.
Titan-Legierungen
Application review focuses on cutting force, material adhesion, burr formation, heat concentration and cutting-edge stability.
Implant-Grade Stainless Steels
Application review focuses on work hardening, adhesive wear, chip control, edge strength and repeatable surface quality.
Custom Grade Selection
The final recommendation is based on the exact material designation, machine condition, coolant delivery and observed wear mode.

Häufig gestellte Fragen
Can HA and HB inserts be used interchangeably?
No. HA and HB threads have different depths, flank angles, diameters, radii and reference helix angles. The insert must match the complete profile.
Can one insert machine different bone screw sizes?
Only when the complete thread geometry and cutter-body setup are compatible. Pitch alone is not enough to confirm interchangeability.
Can the inserts machine titanium alloy and stainless steel?
Yes, but carbide grade, coating, edge preparation, coolant and cutting parameters must be reviewed for the exact material.
Are matching cutter bodies available?
Yes. The BWC12 D12 six-insert platform is available with several internal, external and bayonet connection dimensions.
What is needed for a custom insert?
Please provide the complete screw drawing, exact material grade, machine and whirling-head information, cutter-body details and the current machining target or problem.
