Product Overview

Produce high-quality power threads with our ACME Full Profile laydown threading inserts. Compliant with ANSI/ASME B1.5 standards, these tools generate the specific 29° trapezoidal profile required for American lead screws and jacks.

Featuring a “Full Profile” geometry, these carbide threading inserts cut the thread groove and finish the crest diameter in a single pass. This ensures the thread form is precise and burr-free, which is critical for minimizing friction in power transmission assemblies.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Standard Compliance: Precision ground to maintain the 29° angle, distinguishing it from the 30° Metric TR standard.
  • The 16ER Standard: Our 16er threading inserts (3/8″ I.C.) efficiently handle the most common pitch range (16 TPI to 8 TPI) found in general machinery.
  • Heavy Duty Capability: For coarser threads (6 TPI to 4 TPI), we utilize larger 1/2″ (22mm) and 5/8″ (27mm) I.C. inserts to ensure tool rigidity.
  • Directional Options: We offer comprehensive solutions, including standard right-hand tools and left hand thread insert models (e.g., 16EL 10 ACME) for bi-directional lead screw manufacturing.

Machining Guidelines

  1. Clearance Check: ACME threads have steep lead angles. Ensure your threading inserts for lathe holders have the correct shim (anvil) installed to prevent the insert flank from rubbing against the thread wall.
  2. In-Feed Method: For coarser pitches (e.g., 6 TPI or 4 TPI), use a modified flank in-feed (alternating flank) to reduce cutting pressure on the laydown threading inserts.
  3. Stability: For pitches coarser than 4 TPI, please refer to our Heavy Duty U-Type series.
