Shoulder milling generates a vertical wall and horizontal floor in the same operation. Choose the insert system according to shoulder accuracy, cutting depth and the required machining method.
True 90° Shoulder
For square shoulder milling where a 90° entering angle, wall accuracy and a clean wall-to-floor transition are required.
Deep Shoulder & Step Milling
For deep shoulder milling and repeated step-down passes, check the insert cutting-edge length and the cutter system's maximum cutting depth (APMX).
Slot & Side Milling
Some shoulder milling systems can also handle side and slot operations. Confirm cutter width, pocket layout and insert compatibility first.
Ramping & Pocket Entry
Ramping, helical entry and pocketing capability depend on the cutter geometry and insert system, so verify the cutter specification before use.

A complete insert code or cutter model is the fastest way to confirm pocket compatibility, usable cutting depth, corner geometry and the correct insert family.

Cutter Body / Series
Provide the shoulder milling cutter or square shoulder milling cutter model, diameter, pocket system or an existing insert sample for compatibility checking.
Maximum Cutting Depth
Confirm the required shoulder depth or APMX so the insert edge length and cutter system can be matched correctly.

Acier inoxydable
For stainless and tougher materials where heat, chip flow and edge toughness require a more suitable grade and geometry.

For selected insert families using sharp cutting geometry and suitable grades for aluminum, copper and other non-ferrous materials.
