Formules et méthode de calcul
Depth = (top diameter − hole diameter) / [2 tan(included angle / 2)].
An ideal countersink is a conical enlargement above an existing hole. The axial depth follows directly from the difference between the outer and inner diameters and half the included cone angle. Common included angles include 82°, 90° and 100° but the value must match the fastener and tool geometry.
Hypothèses et limites importantes
Geometric depth only. Does not include tool tip truncation, chamfer edges, runout, fastener seating tolerances or actual tool offset. Verify diameter and seating with the drawing.
Questions fréquemment posées
Does a 90° countersink need the same depth as an 82° one?
No. Cone angle changes the axial depth for the same diameter difference.
Should I program this directly as Z depth?
Not without accounting for tool geometry, work offset and how the tool is measured.
