YNMG Inserts For Groove Finishing Machining
YNMG inserts are designed primarily for precision profiling, finishing, deep/narrow grooving, undercutting, and super-finishing operations — especially on narrow V-shaped features or tight spaces where a sharper corner provides better access and reduced vibration. With a distinctive 25° included corner angle.

When to Use YNMG Insert?
The YNMG is your “problem solver” for geometry. Because the corner angle is only 25°, it can reach into tight “V” grooves that a 35° VNMG cannot enter without crashing the side of the insert into the part.
- V-Grooves: Ideal for multi-groove pulleys (like alternator belts).
- Deep Undercuts: Best for steep conical shapes and back-turning in restricted areas.
-
Compatibilité : Interestingly, many YNMG inserts are designed to fit into standard VNMG 1604 pockets, meaning you often don’t need a whole new toolholder—just a specific seat/shim.
Machining Considerations
- Fragility: Because the 25° point is thinner than a 35° or 55° (DNMG) point, it is naturally more prone to chipping. It is generally reserved for finition ou medium machining rather than heavy roughing.
- Chip Breakers: Look for specialized chip breakers (like “ZF” for finishing or “ZM” for medium) because narrow inserts can struggle with chip bird-nesting in deep grooves.
